Stack Updates and Security Handling

Stack Release Frequency

New stack versions are delivered as separate images after upstream releases. Many are published within a day or a week, while others require additional time for validation, debugging, or compatibility fixes. Existing images are not modified.

Stack CVE Scanning

  • Every newly published platform-certified image undergoes mandatory CVE scanning against an up-to-date vulnerability database.
  • Images containing unresolved critical or high-severity vulnerabilities are not published.
  • Medium- and low-severity findings are evaluated individually and may not prevent publication.
  • Vulnerability databases are synchronized regularly to maintain current coverage.

Existing Images

After a stack image is published, the platform does not modify or remove it, helping preserve the stability and repeatability of existing environments. Security fixes are delivered through newer stack images following upstream updates.

  • Deprecated and end-of-life images, including CentOS 7-based stacks, are not updated when new vulnerabilities are reported.
  • To receive security fixes, migrate or redeploy to a newer supported stack version.
  • Vulnerabilities disclosed after image publication are handled through the normal release process.
  • Older versions may eventually be deprecated and removed from the new-environment creation interface.

Existing Containers

Containers created from stack images are not automatically modified because doing so could affect deployed applications. Environment owners are responsible for selecting appropriate stack versions, monitoring applicable CVEs, and periodically redeploying containers to incorporate security fixes.

Recommended practice

Before a production deployment, verify upstream support status, review known vulnerabilities, test the current supported image, and establish a periodic redeployment or migration process.
