Docker Engine Deployment
The platform supports Docker Engine Community Edition with compatibility across the native Docker ecosystem, allowing you to build, run, store, compose, and cluster Docker-based applications.
The integration supports the main Docker tools used for container deployment and orchestration.
Docker Engine
Processes Dockerfile manifests or runs prebuilt container images.
Docker Registry
Stores and provides access to public and private images used by Docker Engine.
Docker Compose
Defines and deploys multi-component applications through a single compose file.
Docker Swarm
Connects multiple independent Docker nodes into a cluster.

Install from Marketplace
1Locate Docker Engine CE
Open the platform Marketplace. Use the search field or find the package under the Dev & Admin Tools category, then click Install.
Install through the Topology Wizard
Alternative installation: Docker Engine CE can also be added through the topology wizard. Search for the stack or locate it under More > Extra Services.
Choose a Deployment Option
When Docker Engine CE is installed from Marketplace, select the required Docker version and one of the available deployment modes.
Create a Clean Standalone Engine
Deploys a basic node with only the Docker daemon. Portainer UI can also be installed for web-based management.
Connect to an Existing Swarm Cluster
Adds the new Docker Engine node to an existing Docker Swarm cluster. The cluster join token and host IP address are required.
Deploy Containers from compose.yml
Automatically deploys an application from a linked custom repository using its Compose configuration.
Optional tools: For a standalone installation, you can enable Portainer UI and Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates when these options are available in the package.
Confirm Installation
2Provide the environment details
Select or enter the environment name, display name, and region. Review the selected options and click Install.
The platform then provisions the Docker Engine CE environment according to the selected deployment mode.
