Automatic Discounts

Automatic Discounts

The platform can automatically reduce resource prices as usage increases. Discount availability and tier levels are defined by the selected hosting provider and can differ by resource type, including cloudlets, disk space, traffic, optional services, and software.

How Automatic Discounts Work

Higher consumption can move a resource into a cheaper pricing tier automatically. The exact discount model is provider-specific, so not every provider or resource will use the same thresholds.

RAM / CPUDiscounts can apply to Reserved and Dynamic cloudlets.
Disk SpaceProviders may include a free amount or use usage-based tiers.
TrafficExternal traffic can use tiered pricing based on previous-month consumption.
Options & SoftwarePublic IP, SSL, and licensed software can have separate provider-defined charges.

RAM / CPU Discounts

RAM and CPU are measured in cloudlets. One cloudlet equals 128 MiB RAM and 400 MHz CPU.

Discount calculation is based on the total cloudlet consumption of an entire environment, combining all servers in that environment rather than evaluating each server independently.

Reserved Cloudlets Reserved resources are counted when configured in the topology wizard because they are charged regardless of whether the application fully uses them. The total number of Reserved Cloudlets configured in the environment determines the reserved-resource discount tier.
Dynamic Cloudlets Dynamic-resource discounts are calculated from actual hourly use. The total Dynamic Cloudlets consumed by the environment during each hour determines the discount tier for that hour.
If an environment uses both Reserved and Dynamic Cloudlets, each type can fall into a different discount tier.

Disk Space Discounts

Disk space is measured and charged hourly per GB actually used by the environment.

  • A hosting provider may include a certain amount of disk capacity for free.
  • Additional disk usage may be priced through one or more discount tiers.
  • Exact thresholds and rates are visible in the provider dashboard.

Traffic Discounts

External traffic is measured in GB and charged hourly. Providers may include a free traffic allowance or apply discount tiers as usage grows.

Traffic tier basis: because traffic volume can vary substantially, the source states that the discount tier is based on the total amount of external traffic used during the previous month.

Internal traffic between servers in the same environment, or between environments hosted by the same provider, is free according to the source.

Options: Public IP and SSL

Optional platform services can have their own hourly charges.

Built-In SSL Provides a secure connection between the client and the environment. The provider can charge for it hourly or make it available free of charge.
External / Public IP Provides direct access to a server from outside the cluster. The provider can charge an hourly rate for each assigned address.

Software Pricing

Most standard software stacks are available without a separate software fee, so you pay only for the resources they consume. However, some additional or licensed software can carry an extra hourly license charge.

Where to Check Exact Pricing

For every category above, the source directs users to the provider dashboard for the current tier thresholds, free allowances, and prices.

Automatic Discounts summary: discounts can increase automatically with higher resource usage; cloudlets are evaluated per environment, Reserved and Dynamic Cloudlets use separate calculations, disk can include free or tiered usage, traffic tiers are based on previous-month external traffic, and exact pricing always depends on the hosting provider.
