Understanding how platform resources are charged helps you estimate cloud costs, monitor consumption, and optimize spending. This FAQ explains the main billing rules, where to check resource usage and pricing, what happens when environments are stopped, and how to reduce unnecessary charges.

What types of resources are charged?

The platform groups charges into three categories:

  • Primary charges — main compute resources such as RAM and CPU, measured in cloudlets.
  • Provider-dependent charges — optional resources or services that may be billed according to the hosting provider’s configuration.
  • Optional extras — additional platform features and services that can introduce separate charges.
How is resource consumption calculated and billed?

Each environment is measured and charged on an hourly basis. Billing is based on actual resource usage rather than simply charging the maximum configured capacity.

If an environment is stopped, compute and traffic charges stop, while persistent or reserved resources such as disk space, public IP addresses, and purchased SSL certificates can continue to be charged.

Where can I see my current resource consumption?
  • Environment Wizard — shows an approximate monthly cost based on reserved cloudlets.
  • Usage column — shows disk usage plus current/reserved cloudlets for each environment.
  • Statistics — provides detailed RAM, CPU, storage, and bandwidth information for individual nodes.
  • Billing History — lists charged resources and their cost for a selected period.
How do I view the pricing for each resource type?
  1. Open Balance > Quotas & Pricing in the dashboard.
  2. Review the available resource tabs.
  3. Check the provider’s pricing scale and any available discounts.

Exact prices are determined by the hosting provider. The software stacks themselves are generally provided without a separate software charge; billing is based on the resources they consume.
What discounts are available?

The platform supports automatic usage-based discounts. As resource consumption increases, the applicable discount can improve according to the provider’s configured pricing model.

Are software stacks and application servers charged separately?

Standard stacks for technologies such as Java, PHP, Node.js, Python, Ruby, Go, and .NET, as well as preconfigured application servers, do not normally add a separate software fee. You pay for the compute resources they consume.

Proprietary solutions supplied by the hosting provider, such as certain commercial server products, may include additional license charges.

How can I reduce my resource consumption and costs?
  • Stop development or test environments when they are not needed.
  • Optimize application code and database queries to reduce CPU and memory consumption.
  • Use vertical and horizontal scaling settings that match actual demand.
  • Review Billing History regularly to identify usage patterns.
  • Align environment start/stop behavior with the application lifecycle.
Remember: stopping an environment removes many runtime charges, but it does not eliminate all costs because persistent and reserved resources can remain billable.
What happens to charges when I stop an environment?

Charges stop for:

  • RAM / Memory
  • CPU
  • Traffic / Bandwidth

Charges can continue for:

  • Disk space occupied by files and application data
  • Reserved public IP addresses
  • Purchased SSL certificates
Can I get a cost estimate before creating an environment?

Yes. The pricing widget in the Environment Wizard displays an approximate monthly cost based on the cloudlets reserved in the planned topology. Use it as a planning estimate before creating the environment.

How often can I adjust my resource reservations?

Reserved resources can be changed at any time. Updated limits take effect immediately, while billing continues to follow actual hourly resource consumption.

Is there a minimum charge or setup fee?

The platform follows a pay-as-you-go approach with no general setup fee or minimum charge in the source pricing model. Charges are based on consumed resources measured hourly.

How do I understand my Billing History?

Billing History records the resources charged during a selected period and the associated costs. Use it to identify peak usage, understand spending patterns, and review how resource changes affect billing.

Detailed billing information can also be downloaded as a CSV file for further analysis or accounting workflows.

What payment methods are accepted?

Payment methods, billing schedules, and supported payment options depend on the individual hosting provider. Review the provider’s billing information or contact its support team for the available methods.
