Environment Groups Management

The Environment Groups management panel provides a central place to review the complete group hierarchy, create and edit groups, change parent-child relationships, assign environments, and remove groups that are no longer required.

Environment groups are organisational tags only. Managing a group changes how environments are arranged in the dashboard but does not stop or delete the environments themselves.

Open Environment Groups Management

1Open the Env Groups menu

Click Env Groups above the environment list and select Manage.

Understand the Management Panel

The panel displays the complete hierarchy of environment groups. Parent groups can be expanded to show nested subgroups, and selecting an item reveals the available actions.

Create a Group or Subgroup

2Add a new group

Click Add in the management panel. Enter the group name, select an optional parent group, choose a colour, and assign environments when required.

To create a subgroup, either select the required parent before clicking Add or choose the parent from the Parent Group field in the dialog.

Create a top-level group or place it inside an existing parent.
Environment assignment is optional. Empty groups can be created first and populated later.

Edit an Existing Group

Select the required group and click Edit. Update its name, colour, parent group, or assigned environments, then save the changes.

  • Renaming a group updates its tag throughout the dashboard.
  • Changing the colour improves visual identification but does not affect group behaviour.
  • Updating environment assignments adds or removes the group tag from selected environments.
  • An environment can remain assigned to several groups at the same time.
Shared environments: Access and assignment options can be limited for environments shared through collaboration because they are controlled by their owner.

Move and Reorganise Groups

Change the selected group’s parent to move it to another position in the hierarchy. A top-level group can become a subgroup, and a nested group can be moved back to the top level.

When a group contains nested subgroups, moving the parent normally moves its complete child hierarchy together.

Use a consistent project, lifecycle, region, or department structure so that deeply nested groups remain easy to navigate.

Remove a Group

4Delete the group tag

Select the group, click Remove, and confirm the action.

Important: Removing a group does not delete, stop, or modify the environments assigned to it. Only the organisational group and its tag association are removed.

When a group contains subgroups, review the confirmation carefully. Depending on the platform version and hierarchy, child groups may need to be moved or removed before the parent group can be deleted.
