Groups Overview

Organizing Environments into Groups

Environment Groups help organize created and shared environments inside the platform dashboard, making complex projects easier to understand and administer.

Groups are based on user-defined tags attached to selected environments. These tags can represent project names, software stacks, development stages, departments, customers, or any other classification that suits your workflow.

Environment Groups provide a structured view of related environments.

Purpose of Environment Groups

When an account contains many environments, a flat dashboard list can become difficult to manage. Groups provide a clearer view by allowing environments to be categorized according to meaningful attributes.

Project RelationGroup environments that belong to the same application, customer, or project.
Development StageSeparate development, testing, staging, and production environments.
Software StackOrganize environments by technology or service type.
Custom ClassificationUse any naming method that matches your workflow.

Filtering Environments by Tags

Group names are displayed as tags in a dedicated dashboard column. Clicking a tag filters the environment list according to the selected attribute.

Several tags can be used together, allowing environments to be filtered by more than one classification.

Example: One environment can belong to both a project group and a production-stage group.

The main functionality is available through the Env Groups menu above the environment list. It shows existing groups and provides access to navigation and management tools.

Environment Groups menu
Open a group or access management options from the Env Groups menu.

After selecting a group, its name appears in the navigation panel as a nesting element. Click the main Env Groups button to clear the filter and return to the complete environment list.

Environment Groups Management

Select Manage from the Env Groups menu to open the Environment Groups panel. This view displays the complete hierarchy, including nested groups and their relationships.

Manage Environment Groups

The tools in this panel can be used to create, rename, move, nest, and remove groups or adjust environment assignments.

Flexible Group Structure

  • An unlimited number of groups can be created.
  • Group names may contain letters, numbers, spaces, and special characters.
  • A group can contain smaller nested subgroups.
  • One environment can belong to multiple groups.
  • Groups can follow any logical naming and hierarchy system.
Recommended approach: Define a consistent naming method before creating many groups so navigation remains predictable.
