Choosing Environment Region

Environment regions allow a hosting provider to combine different hardware sets, locations, capacities, and pricing models within one platform while managing them through a single infrastructure.

Choosing the right region helps match the hosting environment to the application’s technical, geographical, and budget requirements.

Geographical Location Select a region closer to users to reduce latency and distribute services across locations.
Quality and Capacity Use economical hardware for development and testing, and higher-performance infrastructure for production.
Cost Compare the available pricing policies and select a region that fits the project budget.

A running project can later be moved to another region through the environment-migration feature. This provides flexibility throughout the application lifecycle.

Select Environment Region

When a hosting provider offers multiple regions, a region selector is displayed in the interfaces used to create or import an environment.

Topology Wizard

Use the region drop-down list in the topology wizard while configuring a new environment.

Marketplace installation forms also provide a region selector when several locations are available.

Environment Import

When importing an exported environment, select the target region from the import-confirmation window.

Cloning exception: A cloned environment is created automatically in the same region as the source. It can be moved later through environment migration.
Provider-specific settings: Region names, descriptions, quantities, parameters, and available features are defined by each hosting provider and can differ between platform installations.

The environment domain shown beside the environment-name field can also change according to the selected region.

Identify Regions in the Dashboard

After creation, the environment appears in the dashboard with a small region icon. Hover over the icon to display the region name and distinguish environments hosted in different locations.

View Details about Regions

Review the available region information before making a selection. Each entry normally includes a short description directly in the drop-down list.

Select More details… to open the Regions tab in the Quotas & Pricing window. Depending on the provider, this option may instead open a separate website or documentation page.

Compare Region Pricing

The Pricing section of the Quotas & Pricing window shows region-specific charges. Use the region selector at the top to compare available locations.

Compare resource and software pricing between regions.
Contact the hosting provider when additional information about a region is required. An existing environment can be migrated later when another region becomes more suitable.
